Works Outside the Catalogue
This section documents works that are not included in the Roy Lichtenstein Catalogue Raisonné. These are artworks the artist abandoned or destroyed, authorized replica and projects originating with the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein (ERL). Also listed are test pieces created by others to help with the fabrication process of Lichtenstein's Barcelona Head sculpture and a selection of memorabilia.
An unauthorized Lichtenstein tapestry version made outside of an authorized edition is included here to document the history of its making.
Ongoing research may lead to further entries in the future.

This is one of five elements designed by the artist for a never realized scatter piece, the 1983–84 commission for the new Stuart Collection at the La Jolla Campus of UCSD (posthumously fabricated as RLCR 3298, Five Brushstrokes).
The mayor of New York City, Mike Bloomberg, asked if a large brushstroke sculpture could be placed on loan in City Hall Academy, the former Tweed Courthouse. The Estate of Roy Lichtenstein decided to fabricate the tallest, Element E, of Five Brushstrokes, scaled to best judgement to fit the 85-feet high rotunda. The artist had intended the work to be of steel, but for this piece fiberglass was chosen to allow for easier installation. The loan contract was signed on October 23, 2003. The work was installed in situ on November 16, 2003 and has remained there.

Lichtenstein's 1967 design for a paper cup (RLCR 1472) was not realized at the time. In 2013, the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein, in collaboration with Barneys New York and Art Production Fund, produced the cups in paper in a limited edition (along with a reprint of the artist's Paper Plate (RLCR 1748), commercially printed in 1969). Another edition of the cups was made in glass.
Fabricated by the artist's studio assistant James dePasquale after RLCR 4519, House I (Maquette), for exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. A project of the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein.
