A promised gift to the Archives of American Art, the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation's records constitute the most complete research resource on the art and life of the artist, including studio records, oral history interviews, exhibition files, an audiovisual collection, personal and professional correspondence and thousands of documentary photographs of the artist, his art and exhibitions.

By collaborating with the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation to determine the original color, gloss, and texture of Roy Lichtenstein's outdoor painted sculptures, the Getty Conservation Institute has endeavored to provide conservation professionals with guidelines for restorations of the artist's outdoor sculptures.

Many technical materials used by Roy Lichtenstein in his artistic practice, including color separation drawings, wood blocks and color blocks, and workshop studies, are housed in the Art Material Collection of the National Gallery of Art, a study center established by the museum's conservation department.

The Whitney Museum stewards Roy Lichtenstein's former studio building at 745 Washington Street in New York, and is home to the Roy Lichtenstein Study Collection. Comprising more than 400 objects, the Study Collection is the world’s largest of the artist's work.

The Nasher Museum of Art holds in its collection important early works from Roy Lichtenstein's career, including a sculpture and seven paintings gifted to the Museum by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation in honor of Lichtenstein's 100th birthday. 

Europe's newest public collection of Lichtenstein's artworks, including a prominent group of prints spanning the artist's career and gifted in honor of his centennial year by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, is housed at the Albertina.
