Guide to the Catalogue

Welcome to Roy Lichtenstein: A Catalogue Raisonné, a digital publication by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation that is available to users at no charge. It was launched on the occasion of the artist's centennial in October 2023.

The chapters in this guide outline the scope of our catalogue raisonné project, specify research methodology and resources used, and define the organizational principles that inform the catalogue entries.

The content on these pages was created from documentation that does not necessarily reflect the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation's complete or current knowledge. Review and updating of records is ongoing.

How to Search the Catalogue

Catalogue content can be searched, sorted and filtered in multiple ways.

Quick Search and Advanced Search options with dropdown menus are found in three catalogue sections: Browse the Works, Exhibitions and Literature. Queries in these fields are limited to the section they are in, therefore, if you search in the Browse the Works section, only artwork entries are pulled as results.

For provenance information or if you wish to search across all pages use the general search field at the top of the screen.

Works in Museums and Unlocated Works can be filtered on the related pages.

To view your bookmarked artwork entries, click on the bookmark icon also found at the top of the screen.

This website presents a selection of works that have not been included in the catalogue raisonné. See Various Other Works for further information.
