Per Glenn, C. 1977b, this is one of two plaster heads that Lichtenstein bought in New York City's hat district near his studio. He hand-painted this head and added modeling clay to the second head to use as a model for casting the ceramic heads, RLCR 1221, 1016, 1212, 1081, 1080, 1017.
